Who’s Braggin’
Time out fishing is time spent more worthwhile than almost anything else. And, we all like a good Fish Story …… whether it’s believable or not! If you’ve got a story you would like to share, write it up and e-mail it to ISSU, along with any photo attachments.
Bill Boyer along with 3 nephews floated the Kwethluk River in Southwest Alaska in August. Nine days on the river …… large rainbow trout, silver salmon, dolly varden, artic char, and grayling were just some of the fish caught. Moose, eagles, beaver, caribou, and otters were frequently seen along the 90-mile adventure, as well as the occasional grizzly bear. Alaska truly is a spectacular and unique place.
Recently had a great day fishing with my friend Kip (who frequently guides on the Clearwater River) …… fishing the main Salmon just below the Pahsimeroi, we hooked a decent number of fish …… however, the “big thrills” were landing and releasing a 37″ native, and hooking and landing a 40″ hatchery - BBQ’d the next night - Oh My! ……. What a treat to catch salmon so close to home!Paul “Pablo” Hopfenbeck

Recently, ISSU, Idaho Rivers United, and the Idaho Dept.of Fish & Game presented a beautifully mounted 30 lb. Chinook salmon to Congressman Mike Simpson. As an advocate for greater returns of wild salmon and steelhead, Rep. Simpson will be proudly displaying this fish in his Washington, DC office.
