Fly Gal Ventures Fly-Tying Workshops
Join April Vokey of Fly Gal Ventures for a fun filled evening of fly-tying as she helps de-mystify general questions that intrigue both beginner and advanced ly-tiers alike! April’s fly-tying classes are designed to educate and advance fly-tiers of all skill levels, while maintaining an energetic and fun environment.
Students are encouraged to bring their own tools, however, materials are provided by April and tying vices will be provided by host shop. If you do not have tools, the host shop can offer suggestions and help you with your purchases. Tool can be purchased a modest cost.
Students gather around a comfortable tying table and observe, evaluate and conquer each fly-tying step as demonstrated by April. Each step is explained slowly and thoroughly, providing additional bits of information and alternative techniques along the way. These steps continue until the fly is complete.
Steelhead “Intruder” Class — One of the fabulous things about fishing for Idaho’s wild steelhead are the animated and lively flies that seem to attract these feisty fish so regularly. In this class, April shares some of her favorite British Columbia steelhead patterns, techniques, and materials.

Use these techniques to create and then advance immediately to your second fly while applying your own artistic vision and design. This course is designed for the experienced tier who loves to catch steelhead, and is looking for a little variation in their technique. AND, who doesn’t mind spending an evening with April?
